Obamacare, Lobbyists, Tea party, Politics & Other Crap

Like most of my fellow Americans I’ve been railing at the government for its infighting over Obamacare, lobbyists etc. And like most I’ve been under the impression that if Congress only understood what they needed to do, they would rap their heads like those V8 commercials, say something like, “Oh, now I get it,” and proceed to pull our country out of this mess it’s in.

   Not gonna happen.

Why? Because they have rigged the system. It doesn’t matter if you vote Democrat or Republican, they’re both controlled by big money interests and as lawyers will only serve those paying them. And should you vote out the democrat and replace him with a republican, or visa versa, the ousted politician will go to work as a lobbyist and continue to control what Congress does.

   Yeah, we’re that screwed.

Since Congress has no intention of addressing the high unemployment rate (because the stock market is at an all time high and their handlers want nothing to interfere with that) we’re on our own.

I’ll say it again. WE ARE ON OUR OWN

Working two, maybe three part time jobs? Barely making ends meet? Hoping the economy will improve so you can go back to you regular line of work before you exhaust your savings or max out your credit cards?

Take a deep breath. This is going to hurt.

The economy is better than it’s ever been. Corporations are making record profits, the executive management team is raking in more bonuses than ever before.

Then why haven’t you been called back to work?

Because they have PERMANENTLY replaced you with a software program or outsourced your job.

I’m sorry but that IS the reality. The government has skewed the employment numbers to look like things are improving. BUT THEY AREN’T! They are counting part-time minimum wage jobs as full employment.

So if you’re hoping against hope that your old way of life will make a comeback, you’re painting yourself into a corner, one that may have serious consequences for not only you, but for your family.

If you take only one thing from what you’re reading here make sure it’s this.

The government is not your friend, they are not your ally, they have no interest in changing the status quo, they are not going to help you, they do not care about your situation. They do not care if the economy collapses because they are all rich enough to survive it and if it does collapse it will drive down wages and prices which is exactly what they want.

You may not believe me and that’s fine, but just take a moment to look around. See who’s working those part-time jobs the teenagers used to have. If you have a job, how many of your co-workers been downsized? How many times have your hours been cut?

I have written a large number of posts regarding this issue, stupidly thinking that if we simply pointed out what needed to be done, Congress would quickly act to rectify the situation.

Well, I’m sick of doing that. They’ve made it clear they know exactly what the problem is and has no intention of correcting it.

   So I will.

I have created a new website called The Underground College

Its purpose is to provide retraining for those whose jobs are becoming obsolete or have already vanished. Going back to college is expensive, very expensive. The Underground College is not. It’s an inexpensive way to acquire new skills, ones that are in high demand and highly sought after in the marketplace.

There are two types of people. Those who feel comfortable with the reliability and structure of working for a company and those who prefer to set out on their own and create their own business.

The Underground College provides instruction for both choices.

Pensions have been steadily disappearing for decades, there has been talk of cutting Social Security and Medicare. The reality is the only person looking out for your interests is you.

So pay a visit to The UndergroundCollege and see what it has to offer. I have purchased a library of tutorial e books and videos which will be provided for FREE to those who sign up for our newsletter.

Bottom line: I’m going to do my part to get the middle class back on its feet and am going to need all the help I can get since the government has no intention of lending us a hand. Hope to see you there.

The National Debt is 17 trillion And what YOU need to do right now.

And so ladies and gentlemen the Congressional Circus has finally left town but they’ll be back soon with another theatrical presentation of ‘We only fight for the rights of those who fund our campaigns, we couldn’t care less about the rest of you slobs!”

That is the reality we’re facing right now.

And how did things get this out of control? We got caught up in the Washington dog and pony show while the corporate crooks and military industrial complex ransacked the economy, started two unnecessary wars and corrupted Wall Street.

And just so you know; if you’re a liberal it’s the conservative fault! And if you’re a conservative it’s the liberals fault!

As a long time Radical Moderate I can understand what both liberals and conservatives want and the reasons they want it. The conservative want a balanced budget, they want this country to stop living beyond its means and stop wasting taxpayer money. They are not a gaggle of Snidely Whiplashes looking to throw grandma and Polly Pureheart out on the street, they want fiscal responsibility.

   I can understand that.

And the Liberals want to make sure that, while you are working, you are making a wage that can support your family and make it possible to put something aside for retirement. They want a benefit program at retirement age that will provide enough money to get by and health care that won’t ransack their savings.

   I can understand that too.

Regardless of your political affiliations when Clinton left office we had a balanced budget. Then came 9/11 and everybody lost their minds. From then on it was all downhill.

The problem was we hadn’t really thought 9/11 through. We declared war on Afghanistan but Ben Laden was a terrorist. He had no army, no navy, no air force, and no nuclear missiles with which he could invade our country.

What he did have was a diabolical plan. It cost him very little to carry it out and the results were far reaching. While searching for him we spent trillions on the military, on creating Homeland Security, on cyber warfare, on invading Iraq and as a result, nearly bankrupted ourselves and almost brought about a second Great Depression.

And all that happened while Ben Laden sat in his bedroom in PAKISTAN watching ‘The Price is Right.”

In the end we sent a Navy SEAL team in and killed him. Didn’t need the new super-duper jets or new aircraft carriers or armored tanks, just a few specially modified helicopters to stop by, double tap and hit the road.

As a nation we need to stop chanting U-S-A, U-S-A and pointing fingers at the other side. Stop and analyze what got us into this mess and focus on what we need to do to get us out.

Here’s my suggestions and remember, it’s just that, suggestions.

Cut military spending in half. The military was created to protect this nation from foreign invaders. That’s it, nothing more. Somehow over the years America’s military became the security guards of corporate interests while pretending to be the world’s policeman.  THIS HAS TO STOP! No one is going to invade us because, as a nation, we have more guns in private hands that we have people. If a foreign invader landed in Manhattan, they’d be wiped out by the time they reached the Bronx.

If Exxon/Mobil needs their oil fields protected, or Halliburton is worried about their oil leases, let them hire their own military personal to fight bad guys and keep our military out of it. Email the Hessians, it’s been a while and I’m sure they could use the work

Stop military exercises off the coasts of Korea and China. All it accomplishes is resentment and continued military buildup so let’s stop doing it. Maybe if we stopped showing off our military might by parading our ships in and around everyone else’s backyard we wouldn’t have so many nations hating our guts.

Keep our navy in and around the United States where they belong.

And one last thing. Don’t fall for that threatening nonsense that scares people into thinking that by cutting military spending we are leaving our nation defenseless against our enemies. It’s nothing more than propaganda. Large scale wars like WW1 and WW2 can’t happen anymore. (At least not for very long once the nuclear missiles start flying) Enemy troop ships planning a D-Day type invasion would be vaporized by nuclear tipped missiles, large scale air force bombers would suffer the same fate as would all the ten billion dollar each aircraft carriers we continue to build for no apparent reason. The Nazis, Commies and Yellow Menace have marched into history. Russia can’t afford a war, China doesn’t want one and the Arab nations will eventually blow themselves up if we just leave them alone.

The real war is against the middle class.

Manufacturing jobs are still being outsourced to the lowest bidder, Customer Service jobs will soon be replaced by smaller versions of WATSON, the IBM computer that won on Jeopardy and the leaps and bounds progress of 3D printers will eliminate assembly lines, building construction and food preparation businesses.

And if you don’t know what a 3D printer is, you’d better find out because it will have as big an effect on the economy as the introduction of the computer in the 1980’ and 90’s.

As for what else you need to start preparing for, come back soon and I’ll tell you.

Government Shutdown

So, here we go again. Is it just me or is there anyone else out there that despises our current crop of representatives as much as I do?

Or am I some aging goofball railing at windmills?

This time the shutdown is supposedly over the Healthcare reform bill (or Obamacare if you prefer) but it isn’t. Nor is the sequester or a number of the other so-called moral issues that our representatives are so bravely fighting for (or against, it doesn’t matter)
What actually is happening is that two very powerful and well financed groups are fighting to gain complete control of the government so they can institute policies that benefit themselves and their allies and in the process destroy what was once called “The Loyal Opposition.”

And if you think I’m just some radical nut job who can’t see the big picture may I suggest you take a gander at this article published by Forbes magazine (a conservative bastion of financial council)  http://www.forbes.com/sites/ralphbenko/2013/03/11/1-6-billion-rounds-of-ammo-for-homeland-security-its-time-for-a-national-conversation/

In it they question why Homeland Security purchased over a billion rounds of ammunition and armored assault vehicles when their supposed job is to protect us from terrorist attacks, not invading armies (we have our own military for that).
Maybe you should question this too and like me, become a little concerned.

Just so you know where I’m coming from, let me lay my political cards on the table. I support Obamacare (yeah I said it) not for political reasons but for very logical ones. In the early 20th century there was a disease called the Spanish flu that killed millions of people. Most people don’t know that it was the Bubonic plague that ended the Roman Empire by ravaging their armies and leaving them defenseless against the ‘Barbarians at the Gate”.

In the future it only stands to reason that without national healthcare only the rich would be able to pay for life saving medications or vaccines while the middle class and the poor would likely die off.

And if you’re a proponent of survival of the fittest think about this. If the middle-class and poor die off, who’s going to plant and harvest food? Who will fix power lines? Run sewage treatment plants, power plants, defend our borders, uphold the law, etc.

   You get the point.

The necessity would be to distribute the vaccine or meds, not only to those who can afford them but to those who are absolutely essential to the continuance of our civilization.

That’s basic math folks, no need for political debates or intellectual diatribes.

Before I make my next suggestion let me also place my economic cards on the table. I am a small businessman with a small publishing company.  It’s important that government stay out of the way of small business development as its hard enough to do without some government drone, who’s never run a business, telling you how to run yours.

That being said I believe we should nationalize the oil companies or at the very least prevent oil that is pumped out of American soil from being sold overseas.

And no, I am not a socialist nut. I’m a big believer in the free enterprise system however, if our oil supply from the middle-east is cut off, our national security would be in serious danger. Our economy would collapse and there would be food riots because of the inability to transport product.

The point is we HAVE NO BACKUP PLAN. Other than of course, Homeland Security shooting us as we try to get food for our families.

I’ve said this in previous posts but its worth repeating. Don’t vote for either a Republican or Democrat in the 2014 elections. And yes I am aware that your representative is not like all the rest. Everybody says that but if it were true why is Congress’ approval rating at 17%? And why has the government shut down? How on Earth does that benefit the American people?

Come the next elections vote for the independent candidate regardless of who they are. Tea party-socialist-green party-ultra conservative-right to life-pro-choice-ultra-liberal, whatever. It doesn’t matter, at least we will show those in Washington that when they no longer work for the benefit of the American people they lose their jobs.

And if there isn’t an independent candidate running in your area, then you need to become that candidate, because even though I don’t know you or have any idea what your political views are, if you are a fellow American who would do his or her best for the benefit of the people, then I will vote for you.
