The Pros And Cons Of The Most Popular Systems And Methods To Make Money Online (From Someone Who’s Been There, Done That)

As I’m sure you’re aware, there’s hundreds of ways to make money online. Maybe thousands. Over the years, while learning how to become a successful internet marketer, I tested just about all of them.

If you are brand spanking new to this industry and you’re searching for a proven way to get started (that actually works), read this guide carefully. The truth is, not every method out there works (or at least not as well as you think).

By the way, if you have personal experience with any of the methods listed below, I highly encourage you to share your experiences. Let us know what worked for you and what didn’t, and also the pros and cons of each method in your opinion.

Now, here are the methods I’ve tested over the years that have produced the best results:

*Ebay arbitrage*. The basic idea is simple. You buy poorly listed auctions on Ebay (poor title or description, no photos or bad quality photos, the seller has no feedback or bad feedback, etc) and you re-list them properly (with good quality photos, detailed descriptions and so on).

Often, you’re able to win poorly listed auctions for pennies on the dollar, since most people tend to avoid these auctions like the plague. Occasionally, you do get ripped off (some of these items are poorly listed for a reason), but the overall profit is more than worth it.

This is the very first method I had decent success with. If you put your mind to it, there’s no reason you can’t make at least $1000 or $2000 profit a week.

*Pros*

This method is very profitable. I used to buy and sell mobile phones. I got so good at one point that I was able to buy and sell decently listed auctions and still make good margins.

It’s cheap to get started. $20 is enough to buy and sell your first auction, and then all you have to do is invest the money you make to grow your business. And the sky is the limit.

It’s very easy and fun. At the time I was looking for the quickest and easiest way to start making real money online. Without a doubt this was it. All you had to do was buy and sell auctions all day long, and as far as I was concerned it wasn’t even really work.

*Cons*

It was VERY addictive. Once I started banking some decent profits, it became difficult to tear myself away from the computer. It was almost like a drug. Each time a new sale rolled in, I wanted to do it again. It was nice to be successful for a change, but it’s important to find a work life balance.

There were a lot of setbacks. Buying dud auctions, refunding unhappy customers and dealing with tire kickers all took their toll on morality and margins.

It became more and more competitive. I live in a small country, and it wasn’t long before people figured out what I was doing and started copying me. Sometimes people copied my exact auction description which was frustrating, as I was using several sneaky tricks to get them to stand out (which worked).

It was hard to scale. The money’s decent, but you’re still limited by how many auctions you can buy and sell. And there’s only so many hours in each day. Unfortunately, this is not an automated business.

*Search Engine Optimization (SEO)*. This involves getting your website to the top of Google for valuable keywords. There are a lot of ways to monetize organic search engine traffic, but the most profitable is marketing information products to highly targeted traffic. You can either market your own products or affiliate offers, it’s up to you.

This is, without a doubt, one of the best ways to earn passive income online. Once your site is set up and ranked you literally don’t have to do anything. The traffic comes in, day in and day out; the sales pour in, day in and day out; and all you do is sit back and collect the cheques.

*Pros*

It’s 100% passive. As I mentioned, once your site is established and ranked, there’s no physical work involved. You just sit back and watch the money roll in. The first website I created (over four years ago now) is still #1 in Google even though I haven’t changed or done anything.

It’s affordable and doable for the average person. All you really need is a hosting account, a domain name, some articles (which you can write yourself or outsource) and maybe $300 to get enough links to get ranked. And once your site is established, you can earn that back many times over.

*Cons*

If they want to, Google can wipe you out overnight. Everyone’s heard of the infamous “Google updates”. And while some websites actually do better afterwards, others aren’t so lucky. And if Google takes a particular dislike to what you’re doing, they can pull the plug on your rank (and your income) overnight.

It’s competitive. When you know what you’re doing, I personally believe it’s easy to get ranked for just about any keyword you want. But there’s always new competitors coming along that can make your job tougher. But if you’re persistent and determined, you can beat them.

*Selling your own information products* *online*. This is without a doubt my favorite method, and the only one that’s given me solid, consistent success from day one. The idea is simple. You either create a “how to” product or a membership site (my personal favorite) that teaches people how to improve their quality of life, either by forming better relationships, improving their health or increasing their personal incomes.

The truth is, EVERYONE wants to look better, feel better, improve their relationships and make more money. And if you can convince people that you can help them achieve these goals, you can do very well online.

*Pros*

You can completely automate your business (and income). Once you have a proven, tested and optimized sales funnel, an established network of affiliates and joint venture partners, and you’ve systemized and streamlined your business, it’s possible to earn 100% passive income.

The sky is the limit. Depending on the niche you’re in, it’s generally easy to scale your business, and there are now more traffic sources than ever before. Remember, you own the product, and everyone in the world is a potential customer.

The profits margins are incredible. All you need to get started is a hosting account, a domain name and a payment processor like ClickBank. Generally speaking, the raw margins can be above 99% once you scale your business.

*Cons*

It takes hard work to get started. Unless you license someone else’s product, you’ll need to create your own. That can take a lot of time, energy and determination. But in the end the results are more than worth it.

It can be difficult to make a name for yourself. The internet is becoming more and more competitive, and there are a lot of marketers out there trying to establish themselves. Luckily, if your product is different, unique and interesting (like The Million Dollar Case Study), it makes your job A LOT easier.

Paying for traffic is expensive, intense and can be difficult to master. At some point, the key to scaling your business is paying for quality traffic. As you probably know, this method can have a very big learning curve, and many people give up before becoming successful. But again, if you hang in there, the rewards are worth it.

So there you have it, the pros and cons of the most popular money making methods out there in a nutshell. If you’re just getting started online, I personally recommend to sell information products. Again, this is the method that’s given me the best success, and while it does take time and energy to build your business, ultimately, the dividends are worth it.

Obamacare, Lobbyists, Tea party, Politics & Other Crap

   Like most of my fellow Americans I’ve been railing at the government for its infighting over Obamacare, lobbyists etc. And like most I’ve been under the impression that if Congress only understood what they needed to do, they would rap their heads like those V8 commercials, say something like, “Oh, now I get it,” and proceed to pull our country out of this mess it’s in.

   Not gonna happen.

   Why? Because they have rigged the system. It doesn’t matter if you vote Democrat or Republican, they’re both controlled by big money interests and as lawyers will only serve those paying them. And should you vote out the democrat and replace him with a republican, or visa versa, the ousted politician will go to work as a lobbyist and continue to control what Congress does.

   Yeah, we’re that screwed.

   Since Congress has no intention of addressing the high unemployment rate (because the stock market is at an all time high and their handlers want nothing to interfere with that) we’re on our own.

   I’ll say it again. WE ARE ON OUR OWN

   Working two, maybe three part time jobs? Barely making ends meet? Hoping the economy will improve so you can go back to you regular line of work before you exhaust your savings or max out your credit cards?

   Take a deep breath. This is going to hurt.

   The economy is better than it’s ever been. Corporations are making record profits, the executive management team is raking in more bonuses than ever before.

   Then why haven’t you been called back to work?

  Because they have PERMANENTLY replaced you with a software program or outsourced your job.

   I’m sorry but that IS the reality. The government has skewed the employment numbers to look like things are improving. BUT THEY AREN’T! They are counting part-time minimum wage jobs as full employment.

   So if you’re hoping against hope that your old way of life will make a comeback, you’re painting yourself into a corner, one that may have serious consequences for not only you, but for your family.

   If you take only one thing from what you’re reading here make sure it’s this.

   The government is not your friend, they are not your ally, they have no interest in changing the status quo, they are not going to help you, they do not care about your situation. They do not care if the economy collapses because they are all rich enough to survive it and if it does collapse it will drive down wages and prices which is exactly what they want.

   You may not believe me and that’s fine, but just take a moment to look around. See who’s working those part-time jobs the teenagers used to have. If you have a job, how many of your co-workers been downsized? How many times have your hours been cut?

   I have written a large number of posts regarding this issue, stupidly thinking that if we simply pointed out what needed to be done, Congress would quickly act to rectify the situation.

   Well, I’m sick of doing that. They’ve made it clear they know exactly what the problem is and has no intention of correcting it.

   So I will.

Finding a Profitable Niche

   We’re talking money, right?

   That’s why we’re getting into affiliate marketing in the first place. You find the products people are actively looking for, provide a link to that location, they buy the product, you make money.

   Simple enough, so where are these products? That’s not a simple question. There are many types of products, from services, to software to physical objects. You know, the kind you buy and lug home.  

   Today I’m going to talk about physical products.

   But first, let’s make sure we have the basic tools to make this work. To make money at affiliate marketing you will need two things to get started 1) a business email address 2) a website.

   There is no way around this. If you’re going to make money at this you will need those two things. A business email address is simple and free.  Go to www.google.com and click on gmail on the toolbar. Or www.MSN.comwww.msn.com  if you prefer, or www.yahoo.comwww.yahoo.com  or www.AOL.com  It doesn’t matter. They’re all Free and only take a couple of minutes to set up. You don’t have to use your name or anything, something like captainahab1964234@gmail.com would be fine. So just do it and let’s get this show on the road.

   Second, a website that the inexperienced person will have no problem using. No problem there either. Go to Wealthy Affiliate http://goo.gl/WAv9j look around get a feel for the place and use the new email address you just set up and join. It’s free! They walk you through the set up and you can have your own site up and running in about a half hour.

   Seriously, it’s very simple. Just follow their step-by-step instructions and you will have a functioning web business that you can market from that very day.

   Okay. Let’s move on to marketing physical products.

   Why ‘Physical Products’ you ask? Well, let me first mention that Amazon.com makes on average, 68 MILLION DOLLARS A DAY! EVERYDAY!

   And you can have some of that. Not very much but a piece of the pie! In fact you can have a piece of just about everybody’s pie, simply by becoming an affiliate.

   I’ll give you an example. On the top right of this page you will see an ad for Photo Shop Elements. It’s an absolute necessity if you are planning to design a book cover for your novel.

   So here’s how it works. One of my niches is self publishing. I know a lot about the topic and can teach anyone how to publish a professionally written novel with a professionally designed cover for about a quarter of what vanity presses and print on demand companies charge. But in order to save big money, some small purchases must be made. For example: You will need the Microsoft WORD program if you don’t already have it installed on your computer. You will also need Photoshop Elements. I will have both products available for purchase on my site.

   The price of both products is the same as it is at Amazon, to only difference is when you click on and purchase that Photoshop Elements from my page, I get a cut. No harm in that.

   Now the thing is as an Amazon affiliate you can feature any of their products on your site. Some people’s site have nothing but products for their niche. And people like to visit those sites because its one stop shopping for all the stuff they want.

   Here’s another advantage. Convenience. If something is difficult to get at a store, their next stop is online. Another good product to feature is one that addresses urgency. For example: What to do if … Your credit card is stolen…. A friend borrows your car and totals it while drunk… Your spouse gives you a STD. They go to Google, type in their concern and BINGO, your answer to their problem is right there for them to buy.

   Another way to get customers is to feature a product with a great sales page. Great sales pages address the customer’s needs. Is the page engaging? Does it list the advantages of buying the product, would you buy it? Does it have testimonials? Does it provide proof that it works? Does it have an ironclad money back guarantee?

   Here’s another advantage. If you send a customer to a Amazon page and they don’t buy your featured product, you will get credit for any product they do buy! Commissions are between 4-6%.

   Here’s the thing. I send them to Amazon to buy Photoshop Elements. They don’t, instead they buy a sectional couch for a couple of grand.

   SWEET!

   Seriously, is there any reason NOT to affiliate market?

   Plus, most big companies offer affiliate marketing commissions. Walmart does, so does Target. Just go to the main website of any company whose products you might want to feature and scroll to the bottom. Click on Affliates, sign up and they’ll give you a link to post on your site. Anytime anyone clicks that link and buys the product you get money.

   Once you get the hang of it you’ll want to create a lot of pages featuring products because the more products the more money. Then scale up the ones that are performing and drop the dead weight.

   Welcome back. Yesterday, in step#2  I spoke about how to start an Internet Business with no product, no experience and no money. Today I’m going to show you.

   I know you’re doing this because you want to make money now, but don’t commit to anything yet. Let me show you around first. Remember what I said about paralysis by analysis, you get too excited and move too fast you’re going to waste time and lose money. You’re building a foundation and it’s best to first learn the game before playing

   Remember, selling these products DO NOT require you to call anyone, or try and sell your friends and relatives or generally become a pain-in-the-ass. This is a new way of doing business. Just follow these blogs each day and slowly but surely, you’ll get there.

   There are a number of companies that offer products to sell. First is www.clickbank.com They are the biggest when it comes to products. They have a number of tutorials and signing up is free but you will need that business email we spoke of yesterday so they can verify that you are a person not a spambot. So stop by, join and look around. Once you’re a member, go to the top toolbar and click on marketplace. On the left will be a red column listing of the types of products they sell. Click and look around, have some fun and get your feet wet.

   Down the road I will send you an hour and a half video tutorial on how to maximize Clickbank to make you lots of money. but you’re not ready for that yet. The best way is to start small, learn what works and what doesn’t, and slowly build a steady income. Then once you know what you’re doing, go to town!

   The biggest and most popular affiliate site is the www.warriorforum.com  They used to be free to join but spambots started filling the site with fake ads and products so they presently charge something like 10 bucks for a lifetime membership. Once you sign up, you create a user name and that name gets you into www.warriorplus.com where you can become an affiliate and sell the products they offer.

   The Warrior forum is an on line community, meaning you can watch how those who are more experienced get sales and what type of products are the most successful. Most sell for around $15 dollars and most people are willing to shell out that much for the products and information they want.

   Most of these products have a 50% commission but before you can sell, you must get the owner’s permission first. There is a link at the end of each product to get approval. (Keep in mind these products are their bread and butter and they can’t afford some online spammer giving them a bad reputation.)

   There is a tried and proven method for Warrior plus that can generate between $1500 to $3000 a month but you’ll need to learn a bit more before I pass that tutorial to you. Just follow along for the next few days.

   So, what is the most successful method for selling a product in today’s market?

   It’s not TV, radio or the internet. People fast forward through TV commercials, listen to commercial free radio and I’ve yet to meet anyone who stays on an internet commercial after the first 5 seconds are up. So what is it? It’s emails and blogs.

  Surprised? You shouldn’t be. The first thing most people do in the morning is check their emails then go on facebook. I mention my blog on Facebook everyday (you’re reading it now) I’ve had over 11,300 visitors to date over the last year, many of whom have purchased my novels. (Have a look on the right to see selection.) You’ll likely remember what you read here today, but how many TV, radio or internet commercials do you remember from yesterday? This is why you don’t need to make sales calls or bother relatives. You simply supply access to a product people want.

   Another great way is to write ads and articles linking to a product. Here’s how it works. When most people want something the first thing they do is go to Google.com and type in what it is they’re looking for. I spoke about this yesterday regarding “foreign coin collectables”. You type that in and Google sends you to the pages that best fit. If you have written a small article about foreign coin collectables with a link to foreign coin product and have used the best keywords (more on that as we go along) you’ll like get thousands of clicks and a number of sales.

   There are free ad and article sites that have hundreds of thousands of subscribers and are popular with Google. And you don’t have to be a good ad writer or article writer to make sales. Here is an excerpt from the how to article I’ll be emailing you later today.

Article writing basics

In the intro: Tell them what you are going to tell them in the article.

In the body: Tell them.

In the summary: Tell them what you told them.

   The author goes into greater detail in the article itself but It DOES basically boil down to just that.

   As mentioned yesterday I have an article written by one of the most successful internet marketers in history. It is considered the ‘Big Bang’ when it comes to selling online with no product, no experience and no money. It’s been around for years yet it continues to make a lot of money for people because it’s so simple and its only about 10 double spaced pages long!
